The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic brought some of the top ranked wrestlers in the country to Columbus, Ohio and St. John's Arena for a night full of great exhibition matches. Ohio State was represented by three wrestlers in 141 Jeff Jaggers, 133 Reece Humphrey and 165 Colt Sponseller. 8th ranked Reece Humphrey took on 6th ranked Joe Baker of Navy and lost a hard fought 5-1 decision. Humphrey showed a lot of potential and the season looks bright for him. Top ranked 141 pounder J. Jaggers took on second ranked Nick Gallick of Iowa State and lost a 6-2 decision. The first period ended 0-0 and Gallick scored a reversal and three near-fall points to open the second and it proved to be too much for Jaggers. 16th ranked Sophomore Colt Sponseller took on second ranked 165 pounder Moza Fay of Northern Iowa. Sponseller lost 13-9 but showed why he is one of the most dangerous wrestlers in the country. He was losing 9-3 to begin the third period but stormed back to make the score 11-9 but could not score the takedown to send the match to overtime.
